40 days of yoga - day twenty five

Ahhhh kundalini class for the adrenal glands and a few shoulder strengtheners thrown in the mix. I like this set.

My mat seemed tired today though.

40 days of yoga - day twenty one

leaving my practice to the evening seems to happen a lot... restorative is a good way to make a practice happen when I am ready to drop off to sleep.

40 days of yoga - day seventeen

oh dear... swapped  a chance at yoga on my map to snowboarding down our driveway and watching the small person rock the powder ;-)

40 days of yoga - day sixteen

today was an opportunistic split practice:
a 31 minute Kundalini Kria - Kirtan Kria at lunch time and
a restorative heart chakra opener at 10:15 waiting for my beloved to come home from the pub safely under the slippy beauty of the falling snow.

All is well.

40 days of yoga - day fifteen

so not mat today, just a meditation to mother earth, carrying and chopping deadfall.
gratitude.

40 days of yoga - day fourteen

today I started a new type of yoga -  it's a form of restorative yoga where two 50lb loving labs come and lay on you so you can't move. Oh and they open your heart with the most fantastic face wash too.

I am so grateful they share this time in my life - the big lummoxes.

thank you Amarin, that was a lovely class but boy I was so not happy to leave it.

40 days of yoga - day twelve

hmmmm....ooops no formal yoga but I did horse yoga - if you don't breathe deep and slow he just won't stop trotting before he comes home ;-)

40 days of yoga - day eleven

OMG kundalini class - strong shoulders oh yeah!

40 days of yoga - day ten

it's  quarter of the way through the study of 40 days and I am just beginning to feel like I could welcome this easily into my day. Having  default practice to get going with is magic and then the rest just flows.

15 sun salutations today (I think - I lose count) with taking a double cycle of breath of one of the components in each round. No savasana though :-(

40 days of yoga - day nine

I was not going to get quiet for a practice today so the sun salutations with breath were my saviour.

Fitting a practice around everyday family life and meal times is proving tricky. I think my practices are shorter than they could be but some is better than none.

40 days of yoga - day eight

I am in gratitude for a gratitude practice with the lovely Amarin.
Bloody hell I found the class so tough - it's the restorative yoga that I find hardest....slow or no movement sustained holding, my mind is chirping can we move on now I've done that. Ah, the breath into the posture and the micromovement within in are what's needed to calm my brain.

Also, the am I warm enough for these backbends question  - sun salutations - thanks Amarin.

40 days of yoga - day seven

Today yoga was brought by the animals.
(cat, calf, dog (up and down), lion, eagle, fish, dolphin, (rocking ) horse, locust)
and now I see crane and camel are missing and a few more too I shouldn't wonder.

not particularly fluid or well balanced I'm guessing but fun.
I do wonder if I am balancing my forward and back bends up enough and also getting warm enough for some of the back bends I did.

40 days of yoga - day six

yoga to the rising sun - "Help! The sky is on fire".
helped by the curious dog who gave me a huge smacker of a kiss right in the middle of a set of shoulder strengtheners and then settled into a deep corpse pose of his own almost on top of me. I'm so blessed to have such deep (largely) unconditional love in my life.
Gave my kundalini 40 day challenge a short run today too - Kirtan Kria. So the five minutes was fine - now to commit to 31 minutes for 40 days straight.
This was the first day I got an active set done on my own and a savasana too.

40 Days of yoga - day four

Meeting my commitment was easy today,  I went to my Kundalini class at 7:30 am - ha never thought I'd see that class as an easy give.  My major glands are happily chatting to each other now and I chanted any negative thoughts into reverse and had a thoroughly spiffing day (so far - and it will continue to be positively wonderful).

so tip to self for the challenging days - it's easier for me to practice early in the day and then I fee happy I have honoured myself for the rest of the day.

40 days of yoga - day three

forceably took 20 minutes while the rice was cooking for dinner to practice today.
started with mountain pose, followed by forward bends, cat/cow, swimming arms with some Kundalini postures and a sitting 4 minute meditation rather than savasana.

turns out no savasana straight into a glass of red wine is quite a spacey experience ;-)

40 days of yoga - day two

This is the second day.
Hallowe'en candy filled child with a PD day from school has meant one aborted practice already.
It seems I like quiet when I am practicing... a good enquiry into monkey mind and being present for myself.
Will try another practice before bed but red wine is kicking in ;-)
